Everytime I screen Hear Me for an audience, I’m always asked – what lenses did you shoot with? What did you score in? Mix in? Color grade?
Here’s the first of a bunch of blog posts that go into detail about the process of making the film.
HEAR ME:
Shot on RED One (pre MX sensor) 4K 2:1 (4096×2048) cropped to 2.39:1 in post
Shot on Nikon Lenses (old AIS primes – LOVE THEM)
Edited in Final Cut Pro
Onlined/Conformed and initial color grade – Premiere Pro CS5 (all in RAW)
Color Grading and Compositing/Visual FX – After Effects CS5 (all in RAW at 4K)
Scoring – Logic Pro 9 (in 5.1)
Sound Editing/Design and Mixing – ProTools (in 5.1)
The master is a 4K QuickTime movie (ProRes 4444) with 5.1 Surround Mix and Stereo Mix embedded.
I’ve seen it in HD, now I gotta find someplace that I can screen it on a 4K projector!!!! RED Studios in Hollywood perhaps?
It’s been 13 years since I’ve written, directed, shot and scored my own piece. Been way too long. This film breaks me out of my self-imposed rut.
Shot in June of 2009 and completed on September 3rd, 2010.
